Permanent Pacemaker Test

What is it?

A pacemaker is a device used to supplement the electrical activity of the heart, in patients whose heart is not conducting correctly. Regular interrogation of the device is required to ensure its continued correct function and to estimate remaining battery life. This is achieved by placing a wand over the device. There is no invasive component to this test.

Preparation

Wear 2 piece clothing, as the technician will need to access the chest.

Results

Any abnormal results will be discussed with a cardiologist.
