COVID-19 Vaccinations

SA Heart is aware that many of our patients are at higher risk of severe complications from COVID-19 and we are committed to providing ongoing essential care during this global pandemic.
According to the TGA 'Vaccination against COVID-19 is the single most effective way to reduce severe illness and death from infection.'

As a general rule, cardiologists recommend their patients are vaccinated against COVID-19. For patients currently undergoing stable anticoagulation therapy, more detail can be found on the Australian Government Department of Health website - Vaccination for people with bleeding disorders

Cardiologists are unable to provide any specific information about which vaccine patients should receive and strongly encourage patients to consult with their GP should they have any questions or concerns.

The Victor Chang Research Institute has a series of informative videos on their website regarding vaccination and these may be helpful when seeking more information about the vaccine.
