Transthoracic Echocardiogram 3D
What is it?
An Echocardiogram (or “Echo”) is an ultrasound of your heart which is performed by a technician. This is similar to the pictures that are taken of babies in the womb. It provides essential information about structures in the heart, and how well they are functioning.
A “3D Echocardiogram” is performed with specialised equipment which allows 3-dimensional viewing of structures in greater detail.
This test is only performed at the Ashford Heart Centre.
Preparation
Wear two piece clothing as the technician will need to access the chest.
Results
Your referring doctor will obtain the echo report within 24–48 hours. If the cardiologist dictates a letter, this will be sent at a later time.
If you are a patient undergoing this test and you have any further queries, please raise them with your cardiologist.
