Tilt Table Test

What is it?

A Tilt Table Test is performed to find out the cause of fainting and dizzy spells. The test lasts approximately 20 – 30 minutes. You will have cardiac and blood pressure monitoring, and be strapped on to a tilting table. The table is tilted to an almost standing position.

Preparation

As this test is done in the afternoon, fasting is required from 8am after a light breakfast.

Results

Your cardiologist will advise on the result at the time of the procedure. A follow up appointment will more than likely be organized a couple of weeks later in the consulting rooms.

If you are a patient undergoing this test and you have any further queries, please raise them with your cardiologist.
