Exercise (Treadmill) Stress Test
What is it?
An Exercise Stress Test measures your heart’s activity whilst under the strain of exercise (walking on a treadmill). The treadmill will increase in speed and slope every 3 minutes and your heart rate and blood pressure will be monitored constantly. A cardiologist and a technician will be present at all times.
Preparation
Wear two piece clothing as the technician will need to access the chest, and comfortable walking shoes (for example sneakers).
Results
Your referring doctor will obtain the report within 24–48 hours. If the cardiologist dictates a letter, this will be sent at a later time.
If you are a patient undergoing this test and you have any further queries, please raise them with your cardiologist.
