24 hour / Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitor

What is it?

A Blood Pressure monitor is worn for 24 hours and it records your blood pressure readings for this time.

The monitor itself is about the size of a small walkman and has a tube connecting to a cuff which is worn on your arm. It automatically inflates every 20 minutes until 10pm and then every hour until 6am the following day and then again every 20 minutes until the monitor is removed.

Preparation

You will need to wear comfortable 2 piece clothing. As the monitor must stay dry, it is advisable to bathe prior to attending.

Results

Results will be forwarded to the referring doctor within 7 – 10 working days.
