Dr Philip A Adams MBBS (Syd) FRACP FRCP (Edin) FCSANZ DDU
Dr Philip Adams is a clinical cardiologist with special interests in paediatric cardiology, adult congenital heart disease and echocardiography. Dr Adams joined SA Heart in 2000.
Dr Adams graduated from Sydney University in 1969 and then worked at Royal Newcastle Hospital, Newcastle, NSW before going to the UK in 1972 where he completed adult and paediatric training at Hammersmith Hospital, Harefield Hospital and Royal Liverpool Children’s Hospital, UK.
He obtained MRCP (UK) in 1973 and was made a Fellow of the College of Physicians in Edinburgh in 1994. He was admitted as a Fellow of the Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 1977and Fellowship to the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (FCSANZ) in 2004. He also holds the Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound (DDU) and was a founding member of the ASUM (Australian Society for Ultrasound Medicine).
On his return to Australia in 1976 he worked at the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne and then became staff specialist paediatric cardiologist at the Adelaide Children’s Hospital for 8 years until going into solo private practice for fourteen years prior to joining SA Heart in 2000.
During his time at the Adelaide Children’s Hospital he set up the first 2D echo lab in Australia and pioneered it’s use in both adult and paediatric cardiology.
Dr Adams consults at Ashford, North Adelaide, Flinders and Noarlunga.
