Dr Leon V Zimmet MBBS FRACP FCSANZ

Dr Leon Zimmet retired in June 2011 after 46 years as a cardiologist in Adelaide. Leon had been a foundation member of SA Heart which began as CDC (Cardiac Diagnostic Clinic) at Ashford in May 1994.

After training in cardiology, both in Melbourne and Chicago, Leon returned to work as a cardiologist working out of his father’s North Terrace rooms and was appointed as the first visiting cardiologist at the Flinders Medical Centre when it opened in 1976.

His wisdom in cardiology was most respected by GP’s, patients and colleagues alike. His staff loved him and he was voted SA Heart “Doctor of the Year” more than any other cardiologist in the group. His energy, efficiency, and calm demeanor will be long remembered by all of SA Heart.

Dr Zimmet has relocated to Melbourne where he will enjoy spending time with all of his children and grandchildren while following the Crows from afar!
